Well, the adventure has officially begun! We took the train up to NYC and moved into our apartment. When we got there two of the other orphans and their families were also moving in. Abby was able to meet them before rehearsals on Monday. All the girls are very sweet. The first 3 days the girls rehearsed music and choreography with Liza Gennaro. All the girls are very nice. Abby is the youngest although she is definitely not the shortest. Then on Thursday the adults and Martin Charnin came in.
School started on the third day of rehearsals and they pretty much have been doing school almost every day the 3 weeks we were in NYC. Abby also even had homework to do.
While in NYC we did a lot of fun things. We went to see Legally Blond. That was the one show that Abby really wanted to see. Grace (the girl that plays Kate) and her Mom came with us. We went out for quick bite to eat after rehearsals and went straight to the show. What was really special is that the trainer (Bill Berloni) who does the dog of Annie also trains the dogs for Legally Blond. He arranged it that the girls could go backstage after the show and meet the dogs. Abby was thrilled! I think she misses her own two dogs so this was a nice replacement. Of course our dogs are not nearly as obedient. The next day Abby was pretty tired. It was her only day off that week so we decided rather than walking around the city we would see another show. We went to Grease. Abby loved it, since she watched the television show that cast the two leads. She even stood at the stage door after the show to get autographs.
Alex (Abbys dad) came up for the Labor Day weekend. It was nice timing since I think Abby was beginning to miss him. We did a lot of fun things too. We went to the Natural History Museum, Nintendo World, Dylans Candy Store and then Abby and Alex went to the movies together.
Rehearsals and school made for some long days but we were able to squeeze in some sightseeing. Now off to Kentucky for tech and dress rehearsal!
